What you need to know about tile roofing:

Tile roofs have been around for centuries. They gain their popularity for many reasons but the main two being durability and sheer beauty. Made out of a strong concrete composite, roofing tiles are made to endure the Florida sun as well as the storms that our state is famous for. Concrete tile roofing also adds a look of elegance to your Naples, Bonita Springs, or Marco Island home that is unmatched by any other type of roofing. Having a tile roof installed definitely increases curb appeal and can greatly increase the resale values of your home.
Concrete roofing tiles come in many different colors, shades, shapes, and profiles; perfect for a homeowner that wants a classy yet unique finish to their home. Blending different colors and shades of tile is a great way to make sure your roof looks one of a kind. Roofing tiles are also very energy efficient and can save a ton of money in energy bills throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Tile Roofing Questions

Roof Smart is happy to make our customers the most informed customers around.  We are happy to answer all of your questions.  Here are a few questions that our customers have asked:

1. Q: I am planning a tile re-roof. What are my choices in a tile re-roof. What is the best way to make my selection??

A: Check the history of your home. If your shingle roof is the second roof and the home was originally built for tile then it is usually no problem to go back with tile. The only way to know for sure and for permitting will be to have an engineer inspect your roof. On a rare occasion some structures have a shingle roof that was built for tile. This would be no problem to go tile. If you still want the tile look but meet none of these criteria ask your knowledgeable Roof Smart representative about our metal specialty products that look like tile. You can install them on any structure without any approval. They also come with excellent wind ratings and product warranties up to the 50 years and come in a variety of popular colors.

2. Q: I have a shingle roof now but I want to go with a tile roof. Can I put a tile roof on my house??

3. Q: I want to do a tile re-roof, however on my old roof, broken tiles have been an issue. I worry every time someone needs to go on the roof. Will I still have this problem with my new tile roof??

A: Several things have changed with the new tile and installation methods we use today will help this common problem. The tile we get today are thicker and stronger with additional strengthening ribs that fall under a scrutiny of lab tests and industry standards that were nonexistent years ago. This will result in less breakage for years to come. A common instillation practice on normal slope roofs is to use expandable foam adhesive under each tile. The bond is very strong and it has a little give or cushion under each tile. An older tile method was cement and had no give and the bond would easily separate with foot traffic followed by breakage. Be sure to select a reputable contractor like Roof Smart who has knowledge and experience with today’s tile and instillation methods.
